About the Training
The DronePilot Advanced Light Theory is an online course. Using texts, tasks, and illustrations, you will learn the entire theory required for the EASA Theoretical Certificate STS. You can take as much time for the course as you want. When you are ready, you can also take the exam at your own pace.
Please note that the pilot must hold the EU Remote Pilot License A2 to be able to take the exam!
This training is for pilots who already hold the EU Remote Pilot License A2 and still want to perform flights that fall into higher risk categories (Special Category). In order to actually fly under STS-01/02 or PDRA-S01/02, the pilot must obtain an additional practical certificate besides the theoretical training. This practical training can be booked separately at the Drone Flight Academy.
This training ensures that the pilot meets the theoretical knowledge requirements according to 2020/639 Annex A Article 1B.
During the online course, the fundamentals of the following topics will be covered:
- Aviation regulation
- General knowledge about an unmanned aircraft
- Human performance and limitations
- Technical and operational measures for risks
- Operational procedures
A number of (sub)topics are already part of the knowledge required for the EU drone license. However, it is exam material for the STS certificate. In addition to these topics, this course includes a number of practice tasks on the following topics:
- Flight preparation
The online module will be completed with an online exam:
- Exam for the EASA STS Theoretical Certificate, this exam consists of 32 questions
At least 75% of the questions must be answered correctly in the exam to pass. You can take the exam at any time. Failed? No problem, 5 repeat exams are included in the price.
Upon completion of the online exam, you will receive the following certificate, you will receive the following certificate:
- EASA STS Theory Certificate
In addition to this theoretical certificate, the pilot must obtain a practical certificate in order to actually fly under STS-01/02 or PDRA-S01/02.
