About the course
The DronePilot Basic is an online course. With the help of texts, videos and illustrations, you will learn all the theory necessary for the both the EASA A1/A3 and the EASA A2 certificate(s).You can take as long as you want. When you are ready, you can take the exam at your own pace.
For who?
The course is designed for individuals who are not in possession of the EASA A1/A3 certificate and who are willing to fly with drones heavier than 500 grams accross Europe.
Course content
During the online training, the basics of the following topics are discussed:
- Aviation regulation Privacy and data protection
- Security
- Insurance
- General knowledge of an unmanned aircraft
- Flight Performance
- Meteorology
- Human performance
- Airspace restrictions
- Flight Safety
- Technical & operational measurements
- Operational procedures
These topics are in line with the knowledge requirements as set by EASA.
Exam
The online course is concluded with two online exams:
- Exam for the EASA A1/A3 certificate, this exam consists of 40 questions.
- Exam for the EASA A2 certificate, this exam consists of 30 questions.
At least 75% of the questions have to be answered correctly to pass both the exams. You can take the exams at any time. Failed? No problem, there are 5 exam attempts per exam included in the price.
Certificate
If you pass the exams at the end of the online course you will obtain the following certificates:
- EASA Open-category A1/A3
- EASA Open-category A2
With these certificates you can fly across Europe with drones within the regulations of all the subcategories of the Open-category. The certificates are issued by RDW on behalf of the Dutch Civil Aviation Authority.

Duration
